To reach La Cangreja Waterfall, you will need to hike for about four kilometers. The trail is steep in some parts, and you will have to cross a number of small creeks and rivers. Be careful, though – swimming in the waterfall is prohibited. If you are a bit adventurous, you can take a guided hiking tour through the park, which can take you right to the base of the waterfall.

La Sabana National Park

It was founded by a British naturalist and orchid lover named Charles Lankester West in 1917 and is now managed by the University of Costa Rica. This garden is a must-see stop if you’re in the area!

Don Carlos Lankester, an amateur botanist, collaborated with several orchidologists of his day to create a private garden in his home. In 1973, he donated the garden to the University of Costa Rica, which transformed it into the Lankester Botanical Garden. Today, it is one of the most active botanical institutions in the Neotropics.

If you are looking for some fun in the sun, you can enjoy the waters around Tortuga Island. The calm waters are ideal for snorkeling and diving, and you can rent a kayak for a couple of dollars. If you want to try out water sports, there are three scuba diving sites nearby. The diving sites are suitable for beginners and have a variety of marine life and shipwrecks.
