Things to Do in Costa Rica
Costa Rica has a lot to offer, from secluded white-sand beaches to rugged rainforests. The country is also home to some of the world’s richest biodiverse areas. Tortuguero National Park
One of the best things to do in Tortuguero National park is go on a kayaking tour. This activity will give you a chance to see various species of birds. You can also spot various reptiles. Tours here last about 4 hours and begin at 6 am. The park closes for lunch at 12 pm.

La Cangreja Waterfall
La Cangreja Waterfall is situated in the La Cangreja National Park. The trail leads to the beautiful blue pool at the base of the waterfall. You can also spot monkeys, agoutis, and coatis along the way. There is a bilingual naturalist guide on the trail, and you can see a range of different animals. You might even see a crowned motmot or an Emerald Toucan.
To reach La Cangreja Waterfall, you will need to hike for about four kilometers. The trail is steep in some parts, and you will have to cross a number of small creeks and rivers. Be careful, though – swimming in the waterfall is prohibited. If you are a bit adventurous, you can take a guided hiking tour through the park, which can take you right to the base of the waterfall.
La Sabana National Park
There are plenty of things to do in La Sabana National Park, located in western Costa Rica. The park is located near downtown San Jose and is easily accessible. You can walk or run around the park, and you can also play sports. It has several soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and volleyball courts. You can also enjoy the lake.

Savegre River Valley

Lankester Botanical Garden
The Lankester Botanical Garden in Costa Rico is home to a variety of orchids and other plants. This garden is more than 26 acres in size and boasts nearly 1,000 species of orchids! It was founded by a British naturalist and orchid lover named Charles Lankester West in 1917 and is now managed by the University of Costa Rica. This garden is a must-see stop if you’re in the area!
Don Carlos Lankester, an amateur botanist, collaborated with several orchidologists of his day to create a private garden in his home. In 1973, he donated the garden to the University of Costa Rica, which transformed it into the Lankester Botanical Garden. Today, it is one of the most active botanical institutions in the Neotropics.
If you are looking for some fun in the sun, you can enjoy the waters around Tortuga Island. The calm waters are ideal for snorkeling and diving, and you can rent a kayak for a couple of dollars. If you want to try out water sports, there are three scuba diving sites nearby. The diving sites are suitable for beginners and have a variety of marine life and shipwrecks.
